ABOUT

— Who We Are and What We Teach --

Who Is Jim Phillips

Jim Phillips is one of America's foremost authorities in family preparedness, personal disaster response, and winter industrial safety training.  He has developed a series of classes and courses designed to help you and your family or your company meet the challenges of an uncertain future.

For more than fifty years, Jim has been extensively engaged in outdoor living, winter camping, and arctic living. With a broad technical background he has developed unique principles, methods, and equipment which have been tested and proven over the years. Paramount is Jim's understanding of how and why things work.

In 1987 Jim personally trained James Lovell and two friends for a personal trip to the geographic North Pole on the froze polar ocean.

"His cold-weather protection system (PALS Clothing), unlike any other available, is capable of providing indefinite protection in the most severe cold weather known to man.  Without a doubt, we'll continue to use the system on our future trips to the cold weather extremes of the world".

Practical Courses with a Different Approach

Most courses of this type are taught by the "Cookbook Method," i.e., the teacher gives a list of things to buy and how to use them for different circumstances, in other words a "Recipe" for specific situations.
Jim's courses are principle-based.  The student is taught what their true NEEDS and PRIORITIES are and HOW and WHY things really work.  This way each student can write their own dynamic recipe using the always changing ingredients of materials, conditions and circumstances at hand.  The results are powerful attitudes and beliefs that drive correct actions which lead to:
        • Survival
        • Safety
        • Satisfaction
        • Success
        • In other words, well-being no matter what circumstances the individual might face.

Inspiring, Motivational, Entertaining Presentations Jim Phillips develops and tailors his presentations to the specific needs of organizations and the temperament of the audience.  He draws upon the background of his five decades of challenges, adventures and character building experiences. He believes that life is worth living no matter what, and that there are no problems, just opportunities for learning and growth.

MISSION STATEMENT
TO REACH AND TEACH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE THE PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES OF LIVING PROVIDENTLY

OUR COMMITMENTS, ACTIONS & BELIEFS
• Our manifest function is to seek after, understand and live truth with total integrity.

• Our activities proclaim charity, compassion, understanding, and love towards all peoples, nations, kindred's and tongues.  We are true friends to all people everywhere.

• We strive to teach true and correct principles that lift and inspire others to greater heights of positive personal and professional achievement. First and foremost we are people builders.

• We do not believe that we are physical beings trying to develop a spiritual life, but rather we are spiritual beings experiencing and learning from a physical life.

• We seek to create an atmosphere which promotes and teaches growth and prosperity in all areas of life: mental, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, physical and financial.

• We do not believe in the concept of scarcity, i.e., that there is a finite amount of fixed and unchanging resources in the world.  We believe that there is enough and more resources for all of the world and its people.  (As people, we simply have yet to grasp and understand what most of these resources are).  God has not created a world of fixed and limited resources in which one person's gain will require another person's loss.  Our only limit is our failure to understand and properly use the gifts, knowledge, materials, and tools that God has given us.

• We believe in the free agency of all people everywhere; wherein that agency is tempered by love, respect and charity towards others.  Gain should never be acquired by ignorant or involuntary loss of another.  We believe that the only true and lasting way for all to prosper is through knowledgeable win-win actions.

• We teach a lifestyle of family unity, focused direction, positive goals, and uplifting achievement.

• We teach others how to develop a personal and family lifestyle of safety and security that prepares them to meet any future with hope and confidence, instead of with fear and trepidation.

• We practice and teach provident living.

• We strive to teach others about themselves and their relationship with the world around them, particularly in winter, cold weather, and emergency situations.  We trust that our students will be more functional, reliable, and safe, especially in the cold, snow, winter, and all types of emergencies and disasters.  We do not want them to just endure the cold or a crises, but to find joy and adventure in it (even at its most severe) through heightened awareness, understanding, knowledge, and skills.  It is also our wish that our students pass this understanding and joy onto others and thereby magnify our efforts.

• We believe that life is an adventure to be experienced and enjoyed to its fullest by facing up to a simple concept: There is no doubt that tomorrow will come and that "things" happen, but how you are prepared to meet tomorrow will make all the difference in the world.  If you are prepared for the worst, then no matter what happens, it will be an adventure.

• We do not believe that there is tragedy in the loss of wealth, possessions, health, or even life.  Although loss of these things can be painful, inconvenient, or life changing — there is only tragedy in losing who you are, what you stand for, and where you are going.

• We earnestly strive to make a permanent positive difference in the lives of individuals and families and thereby societies and nations.

• We believe that in some measure, both great and small, the world will be a better place for our having passed through here.  In this manner we are a tool in the Master's hand
